1. Komodo Island
Komodo Island, located in the eastern part of the Indonesian archipelago in the island of Sumbawa, separated by the Straits of Sape. The island is home to the ancient Komodo Dragon, a creature more ancient than Indonesia itself.

Raja Ampat, situated in the most eastern part of Indonesia, is also one of its most awe inducing islands. The Raja Ampat islands consist of 4 smaller islands which are Salawati, Misool, Batanta, and Weigo islands.
The islands are home to over 75% of all the marine species in the world with 1.511 species of fish and 540 species of coral, a must see sight when you are scuba diving there.
Above water, the islands are also well known for being an adventurer’s paradise with lush and vast forests and smooth beaches.



3. Karimunjawa Island
Located in the district of Jepara, Central Java, the Karimunjawa Islands is one of our top picks for one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia. Though you can only visit the island by a 2 hour boat ride, the trip will be worth every second as its white sand beaches and clear waters will sweep you off your feet.
There you have a handful of activities waiting for you such as island hopping, snorkeling and scuba diving. Also, for you animal lovers, the island is known for its rich marine life, with its waters crowded with various species of fish, turtles, sharks, and a hundred species of coral.




4. Nusa Penida Island
Our next pick for one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia is Nusa Penida, an island located in the southeast of Bali, another one of Indonesia’s most famous islands. The island is known for its breathtaking beaches such as Kelingking Beach and Broken Beach.
Hindu culture is also flowing throughout the island as a number of important Hindu temples are also present there such as Pura Batu Medawu, the oldest temple in the island. While on the island, you should also spare some time to visit the other surrounding islands, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

The islands are known for their marine tourism with snorkeling and diving trips which take you to the lush seagrass beds and colorful coral reef.
